It’s not an easy situation to deal with when a patient’s mom tells you she frequently finds her 8-year old child sobbing in the middle of the night, asking God to just let her die than continue on being such a difficult burden to her parents.
Working in paeds onco sometimes can be quite a stretch - fussy parents, fussy children, sensitive subject - but it definitely helps you to become a better human being.

Met the most amusing lady yesterday whilst getting a CT appointment for a patient. If there’s only one thing that she could share with these kids, she said, it would be to tell them not to spend so much time on their mobile phones. You know, bad radiation and all.
Watched 50/50 last night. Really good movie. Has some good mixture of genuinely emotional and funny bits. That bathroom scene where he found out his friend has been reading the Facing Cancer Together book, almost made me teared up a bit, that scene.
